Technology in cable races onward, at a much faster pace than most businesses. The activities of the Cascade Range Chapter increase the level of professionalism and technical qualifications of area cable technicians and engineers, thereby improving the service we provide to our customers and maintaining our competitive edge. As of September 2012, we have administered 112 all-day technical training sessions, certified more than 100 area technicians and engineers, coordinated 18 vendor shows, produced 5 National SCTE Board members, sponsored many chapter board leaders and Cable Games winners to attend SCTE EXPO and CLC (Chapter Leadership Conference). The chapter and its leaders have garnered many national awards for our performance. We have given back to the community through the establishment of an annual college scholarship for up and coming area engineers and regular donations to various non-profit groups and even cable employees suffering loss from hurricanes and flooding. Several board members and their families volunteered time at the Oregon Food Bank each year since 2010, alongside Women In Cable members.
We are 350 members strong and will continue to support the members and non-members in the area. We look forward to hearing from you, seeing you at our next meeting and possibly serving with you on our local board of directors.
2010 Oregon Food Bank
SCTE Members partnered with the Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) group volunteering at the Oregon Food Bank. Members separated citrus fruit donated by local farms, and packaged them to be delivered to less fortunate Oregon families. |
WOW!! Look at the amazing amount of food that 36 volunteers can package in only 4 hours. 12,000 Pounds of food In hard economic times, these meals will be put to good use. |
2011 Oregon Food Bank
In 2011, SCTE, WICT, and Comcast worked together to sort food for the Oregon Food Bank. The group spent 4 hours sorting donated foods from the food collection barrels that are placed around local businesses. It was impressive to see how much food the community donated.
Donated food was picked up from the donation locations around the State and delivered in these large boxes. The volunteers had to take items out and separate them into smaller boxes to be distributed to Food Bank locations. There were times that people had to jump in the large boxes to hand items from the bottom out to other volunteers. This day was a fun and full-filling day that helped out the community.
Look at our results15,374 Pounds of food In hard economic times, these meals will be put to good use. |
